Couple arrested for murder of delivery boy over road rage in Bengaluru
The Bengaluru Police have arrested a couple for allegedly killing a delivery boy by deliberately running him over with their vehicle. The couple, Manoj Kumar, from Kerala and his wife, Aarati Sharma, a native of Kashmir, are accused of ramming their car into the victim Darshan’s two-wheeler after the latter brushed past their vehicle. According to the police, the incident happened on the night of October 25 at Nataraja Layout. Darshan, who was delivering a food order when his scooter accidentally brushed against the right-side rear-view mirror of Kumar’s car. Although Darshan apologised and rode away, an enraged Kumar made a U-turn, pursued the scooter, and rammed into it from behind. Read more

Delhi HC refuses to entertain pleas against Censor Board certification of ‘Taj Story’
The Delhi High Court on Thursday refused to entertain two petitions seeking review of the certification granted by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to upcoming movie The Taj Story. The complainants, Chetna Gautam and Shakeel Abbas, withdrew their petitions after the court pointed out that they approach the Central government seeking a review of CBFC’s decision. The duo had filed the plea claiming that the film, starring actor Paresh Rawal, is based on “fabricated facts and a particular propaganda for spreading a manipulated history by showing misinformation” about the Taj Mahal. India gets six-month US sanctions waiver for Chabahar port
The Ministry of External Affairs said on Thursday that India has secured a six-month exemption from US sanctions on Iran’s Chabahar port. Located in southeastern Iran, the Chabahar Port is a key strategic project for India, offering its only direct maritime access to the Arabian Sea via Iran while bypassing Pakistan. The US had sanctioned the Chabahar port project in 2018 as part of President Trump’s maximum pressure policy to isolate the Iranian regime during his first term. Read more

Andhra Police hunt for ‘third driver’ in Kurnool bus fire
Andhra Pradesh Police said they are searching for a third driver involved in a fatal road accident that led to the Kurnool bus fire. Police now believe that the two-wheeler of Shiva Shankar, the drunk bike driver who met with an accident triggering the chain of events, was first dragged on the road by another bus. According to the police, a bus dragged the motorbike to the middle of the road and callously left it there, and the ill-fated Kaveri Travels bus, which came later, hit the bike and dragged it for 300 metres before its fuel tank burst into flames. A total of 20 people, including Shankar, and 19 bus passengers were killed in the mishap on October 24. Read more

Darjeeling’s Mahakal temple bans dresses and short skirts for women
The Mahakal temple in Darjeeling, West Bengal, has banned mini-skirts or short dresses for women. According to a new signboard at the temple located atop the iconic Observatory Hill near Chowrasta “ladies wearing short skirts/dress” were banned on its premises. The decision was taken by the Mahakal Mandir Puja and Welfare Committee after they deemed that short dresses violated the sanctity of the temple. The temple authorities also said that devotees who are wearing short dresses can rent a long skirt from the temple’s donation counter paying Rs 100, out of which Rs 75 will be refunded on returning the dress.
