50-bed critical care block at Rudrapur dist hospital to open soon

50-bed critical care block (CCB) in Rudrapur is likely to be handed over to the health department by May

Rudrapur: Construction of a five-storey, 50-bed critical care block (CCB) in Rudrapur is complete, and it is likely to be handed over to the health department by May, officials said on Friday.

The Centre sanctioned Rs 20.35 crore in 2021-22 under the National Health Mission (NHM) for the facility within the district hospital premises, and the Irrigation department’s project division in Dehradun executed the work.“All construction-related work is complete. We are arranging a transformer and electricity connection. The building will be handed over to the department next month,” said Govardhan Gautam, junior engineer at the CMO office.“The absence of a critical care unit has long been a challenge. With this facility, patients will receive timely treatment within the district,” said Dr KK Agarwal, chief medical officer, Udham Singh Nagar. At present, critically injured patients, especially road accident victims, are often referred to trauma centres in other cities or states.“A proposal to procure advanced medical equipment has been sent to NHM,” Dr Agarwal added.
