Apple may launch iPhone 18 Pro models in new darker colours: What to expect

Apple may introduce a refreshed colour palette with the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro lineup. A report cited supply chain leaks to claim that the new models, expected to launch later this year, could feature a darker, more muted finish compared to previous generations, with a shade called “Dark Cherry” likely to be the highlight.

According to a Macworld report, Apple is testing multiple colour options internally, though final selections may change before mass production. The report also includes early details about a rumoured foldable iPhone, suggesting a more restrained design. According to the report, Apple is currently working on four colour options for the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max. These include Light Blue (Pantone 2121), Dark Cherry (Pantone 6076), Dark Gray (Pantone 426C), and Silver (Pantone 427C).

The Dark Cherry finish is described as a deep, wine-like red, differing from brighter tones seen in earlier models.The report notes that these colours are still under development and may not all make it to the final lineup. Apple has previously tested colours internally that were later dropped before launch.

On the design front, early CAD drawings suggest a smaller Dynamic Island for iPhone 18 Pro models, which could free up additional screen space, the report adds.

There are also indications of refinements to the rear camera layout and improved colour matching between the glass back and metal frame. The report also claimed that Apple’s first-ever foldable iPhone, which may be introduced alongside or after the Pro models. The device is expected to come in fewer colour options, including silver, white, and an Indigo variant similar to earlier blue finishes.Leaked details also suggest that the foldable device could have two rear cameras, two selfie cameras on both its inner and outer displays, and a design that opens to look like an iPad mini. The report also says the device could be about 4.7mm thick when open.The iPhone 18 Pro lineup is expected to be announced in September 2026, while the foldable model could arrive later. Additional models in the iPhone 18 series are rumoured to follow in early 2027.
