6 dead, key routes blocked as heavy rains batter Mizoram

AIZAWL: Heavy monsoon rainfall since Thursday has wreaked havoc across Mizoram, leaving 6 people dead and sweeping away at least 18 buildings in multiple landslides. The southern and eastern parts of the state have been cut off due to landslides and mudslides blocking highways at several locations, reports HC Vanlalruata. Three Myanmar refugees lost their lives in Vaphai village of Champhai district, when a landslide destroyed their rented home at 4:15am on Saturday. In Serchhip town, Ramzolura (55) was killed and his wife Zaii injured when a building collapsed early Saturday morning. A 37-year-old man was killed and his 35-year-old friend injured when a makeshift hut in Thuampui, Aizawl, was buried by a collapsing stone retaining wall early Friday morning.KEY HIGHLIGHTS
