60 women trainees of Bihar Military Police fall ill after eating lunch

Sasaram: More than 60 trainees of the Bihar Military Police (BMP) women’s battalion in Sasaram were hospitalised on Tuesday following a suspected case of food poisoning. The incident occurred shortly after lunch, when the trainees began experiencing dizziness, vomiting, diarrhoea and stomach irritation.

Several even fainted, prompting an immediate emergency response. The affected women were rushed to Sasaram Sadar Hospital in 20 ambulances. The sudden influx of patients strained the hospital’s capacity, forcing some jawans to be treated on the floor due to a shortage of beds. All available doctors and paramedical staff were deployed and medicines, including ORS, were administered promptly.Rohtas civil surgeon Dr Mani Raj said, “The condition of most trainees is now stable.

While many complained of burning sensations in the stomach and vomiting, those who ate rice, dal and aloo chokha instead of rajma curry remained unaffected.”Adding to the concern, trainees shared a video showing a suspicious object wrapped in a cloth found in the food. Officials are investigating the possible presence of a toxic substance, though confirmation will come only after detailed analysis.Senior officials, including Rohtas SP Roshan Kumar, BMP battalion commandant Lippi Singh, and Mahila Battalion commandant Ashok Kumar Singh, visited the hospital to monitor the situation. Singh said, “The illness appears to be caused by food poisoning. Treatment is underway for all affected personnel.”
