87th Kannada Sahitya Sammelana souvenir released

A souvenir to mark the recently held 87th All India Kannada Sahitya Sammelana titled ‘Bellada Arathi’ or ‘Jaggery Arathi’ was ceremoniously released at a function at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Bhavan in Mandya on Sunday.

President of the Sammelana Go. Ru. Channabasappa said that the souvenir will remain a memorable part of the legacy of the Sammelana held in Mandya.

‘Bellada Arathi’, which showcases the cultural panorama of Mandya district, spans over 1,000 pages and contains 132 articles. Mandya district in charge and Agriculture Minister N. Cheluvarayaswamy, who was also present at the occasion, said that the foundation stone for the Kannada Bhavan in Mandya will be laid shortly.

Apart from the ₹2.20 crore that has been earmarked for the project, legislators Dinesh Gooli Gowda, Ramesh Bandisidde Gowda, and P. Ravikumar have each agreed to contribute ₹1 crore from their grants. Altogether, ₹5 crore will be invested to construct the Kannada Bhavan in the district, Mr. Cheluvarayaswamy said.
