New Delhi,UPDATED: Dec 21, 2025 17:14 IST

Nearly 100 flights were cancelled and more than 200 others delayed at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport on Sunday as dense smog and low visibility disrupted operations. Airport officials said a total of 97 flights were cancelled, as 48 arrival and 49 departure services were disrupted, news agency PTI reported.

Flight tracking data from Flightradar24 showed that over 200 flights faced delays, with departing flights experiencing an average delay of about 23 minutes.

Despite the disruptions, Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), which operates the country’s largest airport, said in a post on X around noon that operations were running smoothly.

The IGI Airport typically handles around 1,300 flights daily, making it particularly vulnerable to weather-related disruptions.

Flight operations at Delhi and several other airports across north India have been affected over the past few days due to persistent fog.
