The State government has accelerated paddy procurement across the State, setting a new record in the process.

The Department of Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs has reported remarkable progress in 15 days after the commencement of kharif paddy procurement for the 2025–26 season.

On December 10 alone, a record 1,46,607 MT of paddy was procured. So far, a total of 3,24,296 farmers have supplied 20,64,673 MT of paddy, and the government has disbursed ₹4,609.89 crore directly into the farmers’ accounts, according to Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar.

In a statement on Thursday, he said, in a historic achievement, 1,71,651 MT of paddy had already been despatched to the Food Corporation of India (FCI) through the Central Marketing Rice (CMR) in 15 days of procurement.

To ensure smooth transportation and logistics, the government mobilised 32,000 lorries, along with tractors, mini-tractors, and special trains, he said.

Mr. Manohar highlighted that urgent measures were taken in Krishna, Guntur, and Bapatla districts due to heavy rains and the impact of Cyclone Ditwah. Inter-district movement permissions were granted to 106 rice mills in Krishna district to facilitate timely processing.

The Minister emphasised that the government’s focus remained on supporting farmers through transparent procurement processes, timely payments, strict monitoring of mills, and daily progress reviews.

He credited the State’s coalition government and the department’s proactive administration for achieving record-level paddy procurement in the current kharif season.
