In this exclusive conversation, Stephen shares the inspiration behind the film, the reason for choosing Marathi as the language, and his belief in the story’s deep emotional connection with the audience.
'The maximum focus is on a family relationship'
Stephen explains that 'Tu Majha Kinara' revolves around the challenges and beauty of family life, particularly the evolving roles of parents and their bond with children. He emphasizes, "In the present situation, everyone has a fast life.
We forget to give time to our loved ones. Through this story, we are trying to show how we can be involved in the happiness of everyone with support and responsibility. And with our children, how we can be with them like a wall and a hero.

'I wanted to make this film in the Malayalam industry'
Though originally planning to make the film in Malayalam, Stephen felt that the story’s emotional core aligned better with Marathi culture. He was deeply moved by the strength of relationships and values he observed among the Marathi-speaking public.
"The fast life here, the relationship here was very good," he shares. "Because of this, I made this film in the Marathi language." He firmly believes that the audience will relate to the film because it reflects their lives, emotions, and cultural values.
'If the content is good, the public will go automatically'
Stephen believes in the power of strong storytelling and emotional content. Confident about the film’s reception, he highlights its universal appeal and the rare presence of such a deeply parental story in Marathi cinema. "A parental film is very important for the public because it is associated with their life," he says. He is also proud of the film’s music, production quality, and emotional depth. 'Tu Majha Kinara' is, in his words, "good content, a good story, good making and very good songs.
" Convinced of its potential, he adds, "This is the best movie for the National Award because all the emotions are there in this movie."
