Who will win the DUSU Elections 2025? Here’s a look at the last 10 presidents and their student wings

DUSU Election result 2025: The counting of votes for the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections 2025 is underway at the Multipurpose Hall, University Sports Stadium, North Campus. Security has been tightened around the venue, with Delhi Police and paramilitary forces stationed to prevent any untoward incidents.According to the Chief Election Officer, the process could stretch across 18 to 20 rounds, given the number of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) used across colleges. As of the third round, early trends suggest the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) is inching ahead of the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) in key positions.Third round updates show ABVP’s presidential candidate Aryan Maan leading with 1,073 votes against NSUI’s Joslyn Nandita Chaudhary, who has secured 480.

In the vice-presidential contest, NSUI’s Rahul Jhansla (931) is holding close to ABVP’s Govind Tanwar (954). For secretary, ABVP’s Kunal Chaudhary (1,123) continues to dominate, while NSUI’s Kabir trails at 466. The race for joint secretary remains tight, with ABVP’s Deepika Jha (767) slightly ahead of NSUI’s Lavkush Bhadhana (733).The picture, however, is far from final. With several rounds to go, margins may swing dramatically before the evening concludes.

ABVP vs NSUI: What are they fighting for?

ABVP, the student wing of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), has traditionally drawn support from students aligned with right-leaning politics and cultural nationalism. On the other side, NSUI, affiliated with the Indian National Congress, positions itself as a progressive and liberal voice on campus.Their rivalry on the Delhi University stage mirrors national politics, ABVP’s push to consolidate dominance vs NSUI’s bid to reclaim lost ground.

Why it matters

The presidency of DUSU has been held by future parliamentarians and ministers, from Arun Jaitley to Ajay Maken. The dominance of ABVP in recent years, broken only by NSUI’s wins in 2017 and 2024, has cemented its position as the frontrunner. But this year’s neck-and-neck trends underscore the volatility of campus politics. The coming hours will determine whether ABVP extends its hold over Delhi University or whether NSUI regains lost ground. For now, all eyes remain on the next rounds of counting.
