BENGALURU: A 26-year-old techie was killed on Friday morning after a truck swerved to avoid a tree branch and hit the two-wheeler she was riding pillion on along Huskur Main Road in Alur, near Nelamangala. The victim, identified as Priyanka Kumari Pooniya, a resident of Alur BDA Phase 2, was riding pillion with her brother Naresh Kumar (34), a businessman, when the accident occurred around 10.50am. According to police, the truck heading towards the APMC Market in Dasanapura suddenly veered right to avoid a tree branch and brushed against the handle of the bike coming from the opposite direction.
The impact threw both siblings off the bike — Priyanka fell to the right and came under back wheel of the truck, dying on the spot, while her brother escaped with injuries.
