Aditya Roy Kapur, starring in Anurag Basu’s ‘Metro… In Dino,’ highlights the difference between mere connection and meaningful communication in modern relationships. He urges reflection on genuine bonds beyond casual interactions. The film, exploring love and heartbreak, releases on July 4, featuring a star-studded cast including Sara Ali Khan.
Aditya Roy Kapur has highlighted that even though people communicate frequently in today’s world, many relationships lack genuine emotional depth. He stressed the need to regularly evaluate these connections to determine if simply staying in touch truly reflects an authentic emotional bond.Stories of Connection and Disconnection in ‘Metro… In Dino’The actor shared with IANS that the film “Metro… In Dino" weaves together various narratives that reflect both the bonds and rifts in contemporary relationships. He said, “I guess the stories are about both disconnection and connection—not only disconnection. Yeah, I think today, in the modern world, we’re more connected than ever."The Difference Between Being Connected and Truly CommunicatingHe points out that there’s a clear distinction between simply being connected and genuinely communicating. He explains, “You can connect with someone instantly if you want, but I don’t know if that’s necessarily led to richer relationships. And that’s something we should keep asking ourselves. Because sometimes, you can be in touch with someone all the time, but if it’s not a meaningful conversation—if it’s not meaningful communication—then what is it?"Casual Connections vs. Meaningful ConversationsAditya shared that although he is constantly aware of what his friends are up to, the connection often comes from casual interactions like sharing memes.
He remarked, “Sometimes you feel connected because you’re sending memes all the time or are hyper-connected, but I’m not sure those exchanges qualify as meaningful conversations. Those moments can’t truly be replaced.” He will be starring opposite actress Sara Ali Khan.Reflecting on Relationships“So I think it’s very important to keep reflecting on the relationships in your life and understand whether just being in touch really means you’re connected," he added.
About His Character in the FilmThe actor shared that what drew him to his character right away was the complexity and spontaneity of the role. He explained, “I mean, it was a very interesting character to play—a guy who seems to have no real set ideas of what he wants in life or what he wants out of life. A guy who is living in the moment, enjoying whatever he’s doing. He’s talented, a go-with-the-flow kind of guy who is also opinionated and has a lot to say, which made him fun to play.
Yeah, obviously, he goes through a graph in the film—and that’s for you to see when you finally, hopefully, watch the film. But yeah, it was a fun character to play, for sure."About ‘Metro… In Dino’Anurag Basu is back with 'Metro… In Dino,' the last part of his linked story trilogy.
