The College of Nursing of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bibinagar, in collaboration with ECHO India, launched the Tele-Mentoring Capacity Building Programme on Cervical and Breast Cancer Diagnosis and Care on Thursday.

The initiative, based on the ECHO (Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes) model developed at the University of New Mexico, promotes decentralised learning by connecting expert hubs with healthcare spokes across multiple locations. The AIIMS Bibinagar–ECHO hub is designed to strengthen oncology nursing knowledge and practice through weekly interactive sessions, case-based discussions, and evidence-based training, said a release.

The 14-week programme focuses on capacity building in early diagnosis, screening, and management of cervical and breast cancers, while underlining the crucial role of nurses in community awareness, prevention, and patient-centred care. More than 300 nursing officers and faculty members from both private and government institutions in the Hyderabad region are expected to benefit from the initiative.
