Iran protests: Indian airlines on Thursday issued travel advisories as Iran had closed its airspace amid anti-government protests and rising tensions with the US. Air India and IndiGo airlines have issued an advisory saying some flights could be delayed due to the closure of the Iranian airspace. However, the order closing airspace has now been revoked. Iran reopened its airspace after a near-five-hour closure amid concerns about possible military action between the US and Iran, reported Reuters.
Taking to social media platform ‘X’, Air India said, “Due to the emerging situation in Iran, the subsequent closure of its airspace, and in view of the safety of our passengers, Air India flights overflying the region are now using an alternative routing which may lead to delays.”

The post added, “Air India regrets the inconvenience caused to passengers due to this unforeseen disruption. Safety of our passengers and crew remains top priority.”
IndiGo has also issued an advisory for passengers. The airline has said that some of their flights have been affected due to closure of airspace in Iran. It added that the development was beyond their control. Passengers are advised to check their flight status or explore a re-booking option or claim a refund as well.

Iran closes its airspace temporarily for all international flights
Iran on Thursday ordered the closure of its airspace to commercial aircrafts amid a US military intervention threats over the protests in Tehran and other cities.
Iran had closed its airspace to all flights except international ones to and from Iran with official permission.
