Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar joined Ganpati Visarjan celebrations in Pune with a festive spirit on Friday, drawing cheers from locals as he played the dhol during the procession.

Videos from the event show Pawar, dressed in traditional attire, enthusiastically beating the drum alongside performers as the Ganesh idol was carried for immersion.

Earlier, Pawar and his wife performed Anant Chaturthi pooja at Shrimant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati Temple. He stated that ten days passed “so quickly" and no one even realised, as people were deeply engrossed in devotion. He further said that he prayed to Lord Ganesha for peace and happiness for all.

The Deputy Chief Minister urged citizens to adhere to police directions and extend full cooperation during the Ganesh Visarjan procession.

Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations concluded with visarjan processions across Maharashtra, where lakhs of devotees bid farewell to Lord Ganesha with music, dance, and chants of “Ganpati Bappa Morya."

Ganesh Chaturthi, also called Vinayak Chaturthi or Vinayak Chavithi, is a festival dedicated to Lord Ganesha, revered as the harbinger of new beginnings and the remover of obstacles. This year, the 10-day Ganeshotsav festivities commenced on August 27.

The festival culminates on Anantha Chaturdashi and is celebrated with decorated homes and pandals, prayers, music and vibrant processions.

In Pune, the immersion procession of Shree Kasba Ganpati (Gram Devta), revered as the Manacha Pahila Ganpati, led the way, followed by thousands of processions from various pandals and households.
