Ajit Pawar, Sharad Pawar Set Aside Political Differences, Come Together For Family Function

Despite political differences, the Pawar family united at Yugendra Pawar's engagement in Mumbai, with Sharad Pawar, Ajit Pawar, Supriya Sule attending.

Sharad Pawar attends grandnephew Yugendra Pawar's Engagement

Despite political differences and feuds, the Pawar family united on Sunday for the engagement ceremony of Yugendra Pawar, the grandnephew of patriarch Sharad Pawar. The private event took place at the residence of Yugendra’s fiancée, Tanishka Kulkarni, in Mumbai.

Yugendra is the son of Shrinivas Pawar, younger brother to Deputy Chief Minister and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Ajit Pawar.

The engagement ceremony saw attendance from the prominent members of the Pawar family, including Sharad Pawar, Deputy CM Ajit Pawar, his cousin Supriya Sule, along with her husband and two children, all gathered to bless the couple.

Supriya Sule also shared the pictures of the engagement ceremony on X with caption, “Heartiest congratulations, Tanishka and Yugendra! Wishing you both a lifetime of love and happiness. Thank you to the Kulkarni family for the warm hospitality."

Ajit Pawar’s 2023 rebellion, which led to a split in the NCP, had cast doubts over the strength of their family ties. This was further tested in the 2024 assembly elections, where Yugendra was defeated by his uncle Ajit Pawar in the Baramati constituency. Previously, in the Lok Sabha elections, Ajit Pawar’s wife Sunetra was defeated by her sister-in-law Supriya Sule.

Sule had always insisted that the familial ties among Pawars were intact even after Ajit Pawar joined the BJP-led Maharashtra government in 2023.

A few months ago, the Pawars attended the engagement ceremony of Ajit Pawar’s younger son, Jay Pawar, in Pune.
