Aksharakoottu literary fete to be held annually: Minister

The Aksharakoottu literary festival will be organised under the umbrella of the General Education department every year, Minister for General Education V. Sivankutty has said.

He was speaking after inaugurating the first edition of the two-day festival here on Thursday.

The Minister said the festival would provide a platform for new young writers each year and promote their talents.

The festival hosted by the State Institute of Educational Technology (SIET) at various venues on the Kanakakkunnu premises, Jawahar Bal Bhavan, and Manvila included an exhibition of books penned by children, literary workshops for them, and interactions with prominent writers.

The Minister said that each book exhibited at the festival had been read by teachers who are also writers and their observations recorded. The students would discuss these books in the presence of their mentor teachers and present their analysis in front of the audience.
