Telangana Jagruti president K. Kavitha claimed she had cautioned BRS working president and her brother K.T. Rama Rao in 2016 itself about irregularities in the Kaleshwaram project files.

“The files were being sent directly to the Chief Minister without scrutiny at the lower level. If one scrutinises Justice P.C. Ghosh Commission report, everything will be clear,” she said at a press conference here on Saturday.

Ms. Kavitha asserted that she bore no personal grudge against BRS leader T. Harish Rao, except over the controversial Kaleshwaram project.

She alleged that the media backing Mr. Harish Rao, and the social media groups of BRS and Mr Santosh Rao - are constantly targeting her.

“People are noticing these attacks,” she said.

On floating a new political party, she said no one gives space in politics, and one has to move ahead with determination. At the same time, she ruled out joining the Congress, stating that she neither has the interest nor has anyone from the Congress contacted her.

On the Almatti dam controversy, Ms. Kavitha said despite the Supreme Court stay, Karnataka is going ahead with its plans to raise the dam’s height.

“The Telangana government must immediately move the Supreme Court. If it fails to do so, Jagruti will approach the court,” she said reminding that Maharashtra has already announced its opposition.

On her resignation, she said the letter was sent to the Legislative Council Chairman and urged him to accept it immediately. However, she is ready to give yet another letter if asked for.

She also announced her participation in Bathukamma celebrations at her father’s native village of Chintamadaka on Sunday.
