Former Revenue Minister Dharmana Prasada Rao on Thursday said that all sections of society have been strongly opposing privatisation of medical colleges in the State. He said that the month-long signature campaign taken up to oppose the government’s move caught the attention of everyone in Srikakulam district and other parts of the State.

Along with YSRCP district president Dharmana Krishna Das and YSRCP youth wing leader Dharmana Rammanohar Naidu, he handed over the box containing the signed papers to the party observer and MLC Kumbha Ravibabu at a programme organised in Srikakulam.

Speaking on the occasion, he asked the Chandrababu Naidu-led government to withdraw its decision since people would not accept privatisation of the newly constructed medical colleges in the State. Mr. Prasada Rao said that the then Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy government had put lot of effort to construct 17 new medical colleges to ensure free medical services to common people.
