Amit Shah to visit Jammu and Poonch on May 29, 30

Union Home Minister Amit Shah is likely to visit Jammu and Poonch areas in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) on May 29 and 30, officials said on Wednesday (May 28, 2025). This will be the Minister’s first visit to J&K since Operation Sindoor commenced on May 7.

Besides reviewing the security arrangements for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra, the Minister is likely to visit Poonch, which saw killings and massive destruction of properties in shelling and firing from Pakistan after Operation Sindoor.

Last week, a Trinamool Congress delegation and the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi visited the areas affected by violence and met the families of those killed and injured.

Mr. Shah had visited Baisaran in Pahalgam in the Kashmir Valley on April 22 after 26 civilians were killed by terrorists.
