The stage is set for the Champions League 2024-25 final, where Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan will be vying for European glory. The two heavyweights will go head-to-head in the ultimate showdown at the Allianz Arena in Munich on Sunday, June 1. PSG, awaiting their maiden Champions League trophy, have been in sublime form this season. Having already secured the Ligue 1 and Coupe de France, Luis Enrique’s side now aims to wrap up the campaign with a European treble.

Meanwhile, Inter Milan lost the Serie A title to Napoli by just a single point. After crashing out of the semi-finals of Coppa Italia, the Champions League remains the only hope for Lautaro Martinez and his men. The Italian giants already have two Champions League titles in their decorated cabinet.

With the final looming large on the horizon, let’s recall how PSG and Inter Milan have fared in the Champions League 2024-25:

League Phase:

While Inter Milan earned direct entry into the knockout stage, PSG overcame the playoffs to seal their berth, finishing 15th in the new-look league. Inter endured just one defeat in 8 matches, besides a goalless draw with Manchester City away from home.

PSG, on the other hand, started with a narrow 1-0 win over Girona but failed to build on the momentum. They finished 15th in the league standings, securing four wins. Paris were invincible in the playoffs as they crushed Brest on a 10-0 aggregate to qualify for the knockouts.

Knockout Stage:

PSG had a challenging job in the Round of 16 as they were drawn against eventual Premier League champions Liverpool. After the English giants won the first leg in France, PSG forced a shootout at Anfield and won 4-1 on penalties. Enrique’s men, however, struggled in the second leg of the quarter-final and edged past Aston Villa on a 5-4 aggregate.

Up against Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal, PSG put up a composed performance in the semi-final. They won in London on the back of a solitary goal by Ousmane Dembele, before registering a 2-1 win in the home fixture.

Meanwhile, Inter had an easier draw in the Round of 16. They swept away Feyenoord 4-1 on aggregate, before facing Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals. After the Bundesliga outfit lost the home game by one goal, Inter sealed a 2-2 draw at San Siro to progress to the next round.

Inter made a roaring start in both of the semi-final fixtures against Barcelona. The La Liga champions bounced back in the first leg to end it in a 3-3 draw at home, before the return leg in Milan, which was also one filled with drama. After the two teams scored three goals each during the 90-minutes of regulation play, Davide Fratessi struck the winner for Inter in the 99th minute to take the Italians to the summit clash.
