AMMA issues show-cause notices to more actors, Ansiba files quick reply

Kochi: The Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA) has issued show-cause notices to more members for allegedly tarnishing its reputation through public outbursts. The association issued notices to committee members Joy Mathew, Lakshmipriya and Tini Tom, accusing them of airing internal grievances and personal disputes through the media.According to the AMMA office-bearers, these public statements have severely damaged the organization’s goodwill and violated Articles V and V(A) of the association’s bylaws, constituting official misconduct. The committee maintained that these grievances could have been amicably resolved through internal remedies rather than public forums. The move follows a similar notice served on June 10, 2026, to former joint secretary and actor Ansiba Hassan. Ansiba fired back almost immediately, sending a strongly worded email response to AMMA’s president and general secretary on the very night she received the notice.Demanding absolute clarity, she challenged the organization top brass to specify which bylaws she had breached. Ansiba fiercely argued that her ongoing disputes with fellow actors Lakshmipriya and Tini Tom are entirely personal matters, declaring that the association has no authority to intervene in private conflicts.Meanwhile, responses from other members have varied. Mathew said he has submitted his reply but declined to share details, stating that it remains an internal matter.

Conversely, the friction involving Lakshmipriya has taken a legal turn. AMMA president Shweta Menon publicly clarified that Lakshmipriya’s dispute is disconnected from the organization, leaving her with the full right to pursue legal remedies for matters that are criminal in nature. The issue involving Tom is of even graver concern and is currently under deep consideration by the executive committee, she added.
