A high-level security audit meeting was conducted in Tirumala on Friday. The focus was on strengthening the security framework in the abode of Lord Venkateswara.
The meeting was presided over by Director-General of Police (DGP) Harish Kumar Gupta and Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Executive Officer J. Syamala Rao. Senior police and TTD officials were present.
The meeting addressed current security concerns in and around Tirumala, particularly in the light of the evolving national security landscape. A comprehensive overview of the ongoing security initiatives and proposed measures was presented through a PowerPoint presentation by Superintendent of Police V. Harshavardhan Raju.
Mr. Gupta emphasised the importance of a robust and dynamic security set-up in the temple town, given its global prominence and religious sensitivity. He also recommended establishing a standard operating procedure (SOP) for each security agency operating in the area, and underlined the need for formation of a dedicated disaster management team to respond effectively to emergencies.
The DGP also proposed implementing a multi-layered vehicle scanning system at Alipiri, enhanced coordination with the defence agencies for sensor-based surveillance systems, deployment of advanced security technology, and fortifying cyber security infrastructure for the TTD.
Mr. Syamala Rao stressed the necessity of establishing a formal coordination mechanism at regular intervals among all the security stakeholders and reinforcement of cyber security in Tirumala.
Earlier, Mr. Gupta offered prayers to the presiding deity. TTD Additional Executive Officer Ch. Venkaiah Chowdary facilitated him with the darshan.
