Andhra Pradesh Governor S. Abul Nazeer said on Saturday (December 13, 2025), that dialogue is one of the most powerful instrument of peace.

Speaking at the ‘global peace conclave’ organised by Sri Krishna Mutt and Putthige Mutt in Udupi, Mr. Nazeer, a former judge of the Supreme Court said, “Conflicts often emerge when communication breaks down. Peace takes root when voices are heard, ideas are respectfully exchanged and understanding is nurtured.”

Mr. Nazeer said that in today’s world marked by conflict, division and uncertainty the role of India becomes crucial. “Our nation has always carried the message that peace is not merely the absence of conflict but the presence of mutual respect, responsibility and cooperation. This vision is beautifully captured in a profound teaching of Bhagavad Gita,” he said and quoted a verse from the Bhagavad Gita which said, “Nourish the divine forces of life. And they will in turn nourish you. Support one another and together you all attain the highest good.”

Mr. Nazeer said that Bhagavad Gita invited people to live with the spirit of cooperation, gratitude and selfless duty. “Our highest good is achieved not through isolation or selfishness but through mutual uplift. When we honour Nature, respect one another and act with compassion we move together for better and more peaceful world,” he said.

Mr. Nazeer said that India’s spiritual heritage, democratic values and commitment to human dignity places the country in a unique position to guide global discourse on peace. “Whether through humanitarian action, climate leadership, cultural diplomacy or moral guidance, India continues to stand for harmony both at home and across the world,” he said.

Referring to Vedas, Mr. Nazeer said that it united all people of India as people had their roots in Vedas. “Vedas are not mere religious texts. They are the intellectual, cultural and philosophical foundation of India’s civilisation. They are our soul and they bind us together. They define the whole mankind. Indian literature, art, music, science, philosophy, culture, traditions and many more things originated from Vedas only. Vedas are corner stone of India and they are not only the treasures of India but also of the whole world,” he said.

Mr. Nazeer said that life is sustained through mutual support. Quoting a Sanskrit verse he said: “The word ‘Deva’ is expansive. It refers not only to celestial beings but also to the forces of Nature, the environment and all that sustains our existence, the sun, rain, soil, rivers, eco system and even the inherent goodness within every human being. When we respect and nurture these forces, when we live responsibly, ethically and harmoniously they naturally return that nourishment through health, prosperity, peace and inner fulfilment.”

Mr. Nazeer said that Udupi has radiated spiritual wisdom, compassion and cultural harmony for more than eight centuries.

“Udupi is not merely a town but a living heritage of India’s spiritual vision. The divine presence of Lord Krishna and the enlightening teachings of Madhwacharya, proponent of Dwaita philosophy, and the timeless traditions of the Asta Mutts have together made Udupi a guiding light of devotion, philosophy and the cultural unity for the entire world,” Mr. Nazeer said.
