Andhra Pradesh has registered a strong economic growth in the first quarter of 2025-26, surpassing the national average and reinforcing its position as one of India’s fastest-growing States.
Presenting the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) review report at the 4th Collectors’ Conference on Monday (September 15, 2025), the Planning Department reported that the State’s GSDP grew by 10.5% in Quarter (Q)1, compared to the national average of 8.8%. The Gross Value Added (GVA) stood at 10.76%, a sharp rise from 9.4% in the same quarter last year.

Valued at ₹81,496 crore, the Agriculture and allied sectors grew at 9.6% against the national average of 3.2%. Livestock increased to 6.65%, while fisheries and aquaculture surged 14.5%.
Contributing ₹92,843 crore, the Industry sector expanded to 11.9% (India: 6.8%). Mining and quarrying led the way with a record 43.5% growth, driven by higher mineral output, while manufacturing registered nearly 10% valued at ₹1,57,321 crore, the services sector grew 10.7% during the quarter.
District-level GDDP monitoring introduced
For the first time, district-level Gross District Domestic Product (GDDP) estimates were compiled. Andhra Pradesh achieved 19.2% of its annual GDDP target in the first quarter itself. Srikakulam, Prakasam, Eluru, NTR, and Tirupati districts performed strongly, crossing 20% of their annual targets.

The State is on course to achieve its ambitious GSDP target of ₹18.65 lakh crore for FY 2025-26, aligned with the Swarna Andhra Vision 2047. With focussed interventions across agriculture, industry, and services, Andhra Pradesh aims to consolidate its growth trajectory.
Strengthening accountability through KPIs
To ensure effective governance alongside economic progress, the State has rolled out a performance monitoring framework with 512 Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) across 28 departments.
As per the Planning Department officials, top performers includes Housing (100, A+), Secondary Education (97, A+), Tribal Welfare (97, A+); Mid-range performers: Health (83, A), Revenue (82, A), Panchayat Raj (81, A); Improvement areas: Agriculture Marketing (27, C), BC Welfare (25, C).
At the district level, all regions scored within the B range (58–64), with West Godavari and Nandyal leading at 64. Among mandals, Anantapur Urban (82, A) ranked highest, while Pedabayalu in ASR district (49, C) was at the lower end.
Going forward, the government plans to expand the KPI framework to more than 600 indicators, with real-time alerts, cross-departmental integration, and monthly reviews by the Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, reinforcing transparency and accountability under Swarna Andhra Vision 2047.
