Nearly 1.05 lakh anganwadi teachers, helpers and workers will observe a one-day strike demanding the government to solve their issues on December 12.
The anganwadi teachers and workers, led by AITUC-affiliated A.P. Anganwadi Workers and Helpers Association, A.P. Pragathisheela Anganwadi Workers and Helpers Union and A.P. Anganwadi Workers and Helpers Union, affiliated to CITU, will stage protests in front of the Collectorates across the State, said association State general secretary J. Lalitha.
The anganwadi staff observed a 42-day strike in December, 2023. The TDP which was in Opposition then extended support to the strike and assured to solve the problems after coming to power, said Pragathisheela Angnawadi Workers and Helpers Union State general secretary V.R. Jyothi.
“Even after two years, many problems including an increase in salaries, implementation of gratuity and welfare schemes for anganwadi have been pending,” Ms. Lalitha said.
The anganwadi women will close all the 55,607 centres and participate in the protests at the Collectorates on December 12, urging the government to improve facilities in the centres and other problems, Ms. Jyothi said.
