Angel Reese remains out of the second half against Las Vegas Aces despite her suspension being over

It doesn't seem like a smooth season for Chicago Sky star Angel Reese. After her eighth technical foul in the 2025 season, Reese was automatically suspended for a game by the WNBA. She missed a critical game against the Indiana Fever. Following this, her own team added to the punishment by suspending her from the first half of the game against the Las Vegas Aces. As fans were preparing to witness their favorite player in the second half, unexpected news came in. Reese won’t step into the court for the second half owing to a back injury. Aces hoops reporter Callie Fin wrote on X, “Angel Reese will not be taking the court against the Aces despite her suspension being up. Sky PR announced at halftime that she's been ruled out, citing her back.”

This came as a surprise to everyone. The initial reports before the game did not have Reese’s name on them.

This is the 11th game that the player has missed due to her injury. The injury surfaced during the All-Star break in July. Even after that, the player was seen at the pre-game warmups with a compression wrap on.

Why was Angel Reese suspended by Chicago Sky?

Angel Reese’s suspension by the Chicago Sky came as a punishment for her detrimental remarks on the team. The star player believed that the team’s functioning was lagging in certain aspects. According to her, the front office did not do a great job handling free agency last season. She even commented on Courtney Vandersloot and the head coach, Tyler Marsh. Owing to these comments, the team announced the suspension of Reese from the first half of the game against the Las Vegas Aces.

Reese’s remarks were considered detrimental by the team. The Chicago Sky made the announcement on Friday that the issue had been solved internally. Also Read: NBC leans on NFL audience to launch fresh NBA era with star-studded broadcast lineup reveal
