A seemingly angry Max Verstappen was seen facing up to the media after a disastrous Formula 1 Chinese Grand Prix sprint, the video of which has gone viral on social media.

Verstappen’s tough weekend at the Shanghai International Circuit continued in the sprint race, as he began P8 after qualifying problems and lost multiple places after a poor start.

The Red Bull driver dropped to P14 at the start after losing six places before starting to claw back positions one by one. Verstappen had just reached the brink of the top 10 when a safety car was deployed after Nico Hulkenberg stopped on track.

Red Bull pitted both of its drivers while most of the midfield stayed out, causing Verstappen to drop to P14. With the race restarting with only three laps remaining, he faced the challenge of gaining at least six positions to score points.

Verstappen could only climb to P9, as Liam Lawson and Oliver Bearman’s decision to stay out under the safety car proved successful. After the race, the former spoke to the media.

“I don’t have a lot of words, to be honest. Everything that could go wrong went wrong. The start is one problem we have to fix, but then after that, the balance is all over the place; we probably have the highest degradation of everyone, plus some other bits on the car that weren’t… well prepared," Verstappen said.

Meanwhile, George Russell won ‘a pretty fun’ sprint race at the Chinese GP on Saturday, March 14, as the Mercedes driver continued his early-season dominance by leading home both Ferraris to extend his world championship lead.
