I am not doing the show - Exclusive

Speculations have been rife about Ankit Gupta being in contention along with Shakti Arora for the male lead in Rashmi Sharma’s upcoming show. We have learnt that while Ankit was in talks with the makers and had even taken a mock shoot for the role, the deal failed to materialise.

In an exclusive chat with us, Ankit, who was last seen in Maati Se Bandhi Dor, shared, “I am not doing the Rashmi Sharma show. Something interesting is in the works; will share when it’s time!” Bhavika Sharma, known for her roles in Jiji Maa, Maddam Sir and Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin, has reportedly been finalised to play the female protagonist. Earlier, when Maati Se Bandhi Dor wrapped up after 11 months, Ankit had told us, “People loved Rannvijay despite the character’s flaws.

I feel that was my biggest victory. I am satisfied that after Bigg Boss, this was a good project and I grew a lot as an actor. I would say I was better as an actor in Maati than Udaariyaan.” When asked about the show not connecting with the masses, he replied, “It is not in the actor’s hands if a show does not work. I felt that the show had a great star cast and we gave it our best. Every show has its destiny and I am glad that we all worked hard and enjoyed shooting for it.

In certain scenes, I had to work hard on the emotions, and they moved me deeply. My character was torn between two women, so it was not an easy role to play.

He had also mentioned that he would take a short break before resuming another project. And he seems to have stuck to the plan. He said, “A break will definitely rejuvenate me, but if I get another project, then I will postpone my holiday. Now is the time to focus on my career and though I am keen on a holiday, I am also eager to start work on something new and different soon. I haven’t hit the gym for the past three months and would also like to focus on my fitness.
