The Anna Bhagya scheme, one of the five guarantees announced by the Congress in Karnataka's 2023 assembly election manifesto, is facing severe disruption. Truckers Association has halted operations due to unpaid dues of Rs 250 crore. The scheme, which provides 10 kilograms of rice to BPL families monthly, is now in jeopardy. Truckers are also demanding a 5 litre diesel price rollback, abolition of toll plazas on 18 highways, and a 50% discount on fines. The opposition claims the government has gone bankrupt, with no funds for development or municipal employees. The situation has led to administrative standstill, with the government accused of focusing more on saving their positions than addressing the crisis.
