AP govt to waive off agriculture loans to the capital city farmers

VIJAYAWADA: The state has announced a loan waiver for farmers in the capital region whose land will be pooled for Amaravati's development. With the chief minister Chandrabbau Naidu giving green signal, municipal administration minister Narayana told the media here on Wednesday.

Minister launched the second phase of the land pooling process in Vaddamanu village of Thulluru mandal amidst fanfare of the local farmers. Minister Narayana revealed that Tadikonda MLA Tenali Sravan Kumar had requested the waiver. The minister said he discussed the matter with the chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who immediately agreed to the proposal. Loans taken by these farmers up to January 6, 2026 will be waived, with the benefit applicable up to ₹1.50 lakh per farmer.

The chief minister has also given preliminary approval to measures aimed at increasing farmers' income, the minister added. Minister Narayana further stated that development of the pooled land will proceed rapidly. He noted that the chief minister has directed the completion of an international airport and a sports complex within three years. A day after CRDA stamped its nod, the authorities rolled out the process for the second phase Land Pooling Scheme (LPS-II). The competent authorities have issued separate notifications for land pooling in Vaddamanu village of Tulluru mandal and Endrayi village of Amaravati mandal. Notifications have been issued for 1,937 acres in Vaddamanu and 2,166 acres in Endrayi. The govt has permitted land pooling over a total extent of 16,666.57 acres across seven revenue villages. Tadikonda MLA Tenali Sravan Kumar remarked that the people have taught a lesson to former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for obstructing Amaravati's construction. He said farmers had protested against the injustices committed during that period. Addressing a village meeting (gram sabha) in Vaddamanu on the occasion of the second phase of land pooling, the MLA praised chief minister Chandrababu Naidu for convincing the central govt on financial issues and securing funds. He highlighted that the CM is working comprehensively for the state's development and urged the previous YSRCP government to cease spreading false propaganda now that it is no longer in power.
