APFT urges government to announce 30% IR for State employees, teachers

The Andhra Pradesh Teachers Federation (APTF), NTR district, elected its new office-bearers during its second council meeting held on Sunday (December 14, 2025), at the State office in Vijayawada.

The federation members unanimously elected Vemulapalli Radhika as the district president, Syed Qasim as general secretary, E. Poornachandra Rao, N. Avani, Nayeem Mohammed and D. Rajkumar as vice-presidents, B. Vasaram, A. Sundara Rama Rao, S. Ramu, Sheikh Khaja and Lal Ahmed as secretaries and P.V. Durgaprasad and K. Sultana as State Councillors. The federation’s State vice-president P. Venkateswarlu acted as the district election officer.

Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Radhika said over the past two years, the district unit had proactively worked to resolve teachers’ issues and address challenges in the education sector, while Mr. Qasim presented a detailed report on the union’s activities during the last two years, which was discussed and approved by representatives of various mandal branches.

APTF State vice-president M.W. Anitha urged the State government to constitute the 12th Pay Revision Commission (PRC) and grant 30% interim relief to employees and teachers. Former State general secretary P. Panduranga Varaprasada Rao alleged that the Central and State government policies were promoting privatisation and increased working hours, and called for collective opposition, urging members to respond to future programmes of the State association.
