Andhra Pradesh Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (APSPDCL) completed the restoration work of damaged power lines on a war footing basis in the areas flooded due to the overflow of Oluru Rayala Cheruvu Lake following heavy rains in Tirupati, APSPDCL Chairman and Managing Director L. Sivasankar said in a statement on Saturday (November 08, 2025).

The 33/11KV substation in the district’s KVB Puram mandal had been submerged due to the collapse of Oluru Rayala Cheruvu bund, causing flooding in Kalathur, SL Puram, PCK Puram, Rangayya Gunta, Rajulakandriga, and Kotalamitta villages. The power supply was disrupted in these villages.

Due to the flooding, 223 electricity poles and 78 transformers were damaged, resulting in disruption in supply to 2,093 services (domestic, agricultural and drinking water connections). In view of these circumstances, the power supply restoration work was undertaken as soon as the flood impact subsided. The repair work of 89 electric poles and 78 transformers was completed by Friday night, Mr. Sivasankar said.

The APSPDCL chief explained that the power supply has been restored to 1,353 services and the work to restore supply to the remaining services was completed on Saturday. He appreciated the officials and staff who have been working tirelessly for the last three days to restore the power supply.
