Art exhibition echoes the need for balancing nature and humanity

Japanese Ambassador Ono Keiichi admires Ranjeeta Kant's abstract artworks

Nature’s beauty in its scenic landscapes and its fury in the recurrent fires, floods and rising temperatures continue to surprise and challenge humanity. Reflecting on this fragile co-existence, Ranjeeta Kant displayed her collection of 29 abstract paintings, titled Echoes of the Earth, at Bikaner House.

The exhibition, curated by Shibani Chawla along with the artist, was inaugurated by art collector and philanthropist Kiran Nadar.

Art as a voice of natureAbout her artworks, Ranjeeta, said, “My paintings are a visual representation of the Earth’s plight and the beauty that coexists. The artworks go beyond being an interplay of colours, each canvas captures nature’s tiny elements placed thoughtfully. Together, they point to the urgent need for balance between nature and humanity.”

Some of the works were painted in California, Thimphu, Lake Como during her travels.

I am impressed by the depth of colours in these paintings. Looking at the orange artwork, I see the rising sun and the warmth in humanity

One of the works that drew much attention was a bright orange monochrome canvas, symbolising forest fires. Admiring it, Amitabh Kant, former G20 Sherpa and the artist’s husband, remarked, “It visually appeals to my mind and voices the need for climate action.”

I see these paintings as good abstract artworks, especially the monochromatic ones
