Shehzaadi Hai Tu Dil Ki continues to strike an emotional chord with audiences, and a large part of that impact comes from Ashika Padukone’s heartfelt portrayal of Deepa. The actor, who essays the role of a mother navigating heartbreak, responsibility, and resilience, recently shared deep insights into her character and the emotional layers she brings to the screen.Speaking about Deepa’s mindset, Ashika explains that her character is strong and independent, yet vulnerable in her hope for emotional support. “Deepa is independent, yet somewhere she hoped Bhanu would take responsibility. When that hope breaks, it shatters her from within. I tapped into that sense of betrayal, disappointment and helplessness, especially knowing she has come this far only for her daughter’s future,” she says, highlighting the emotional foundation of her performance.Ashika further reveals that the most demanding aspect of the role lay in portraying Deepa’s silent suffering. “The most challenging part was portraying Deepa’s internal conflict, she is deeply hurt, yet she doesn’t allow herself to break down because her daughter is watching. Showing that silent heartbreak while remaining strong and composed on the outside was emotionally demanding, but also very powerful for me as an actor,” she shares.
On a personal note, the actor admits she strongly relates to Deepa’s dignity and self-worth. “I personally connect with Deepa’s strength and self-respect. Like her, I believe in moving forward with dignity rather than holding on to someone who disrespects you,” Ashika adds, calling the character real and inspiring.Reflecting on what viewers can take away, she concludes, “The core message is clear, you have to keep moving forward even when life becomes unbearably hard… sometimes it means accepting the truth, letting go and starting again with courage.”
