The Yadgir district administration, the City Municipal Council and the Skill Development Department have jointly set up an Ashraya Kendra near the Fish Market on the outskirts of Yadgir.
The prime aim of setting up such a kendra in the city is to ensure shelter and food for homeless people who spend the night at bus stands, railway stations and other such public places.
The Ashraya Kendra has been set up under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana - National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM). The number of people coming to the city in search of jobs is increasing and there are other homeless people who stay for the night at bus stands and railway stations.
“To ensure shelter for such people, the kendra has been established. The CMC appeals to them to make use of the facility,” chairman of Yadgir CMC Umesh Chawan said.
Bharatambhe Education and Rural Development Samshte have been entrusted with the annual maintenance of the kendra. Homeless people can call Ph: 9740187796 (Bhimashankar Doddamani) and 8722276167 (Beeralingappa Killanakeri) for availing themselves of the facility.
