The Puttenahalli police have registered a case of sexual harassment against an autorickshaw driver for allegedly harassing a 19-year-old female student after dropping her at her destination last Monday.
Despite filing a complaint with the details of the accused, the police are yet to track down the accused even after a week .
The incident occurred on September 8, when the victim, had booked the autorickshaw on the Rapido ride-hailing app at 4.28 p.m. from J.P. Nagar to her house. She was picked up by the accused, identified as Hanumanthappa H. Talwar.
Narrating the ordeal, the victim, in her complaint, said that she reached her destination at around 5.15 p.m. and was about to get down when the accused told her that she looked like a film actress and on the pretext of helping her bring down her bag, touched her inappropriately.
She informed her mother before approaching the police.
Another incident
On September 7, a 29-year-old web designer was sexually harassed twice by a man while she was helping an injured stray dog near Jakkur Double Road to cross the road on last Sunday night.
The accused, identified as Manjunath, an engineer by profession, was chased by the victim’s friends and was caught after he lost balance and fell while riding away. He was then handed over to the Amruthahalli patrolling police who reached the spot later. However, he managed to flee and was later traced by police at his apartment near Bagalur. Manjunath sustained injuries and was admitted to the hospital and police arrested him later .
