Ranchi: A new varsity, which is being set up by the Azim Premji Foundation in Ranchi’s Itki area, will begin offering academic services in phased manner from July 2026, officials said on Friday.
In the initial phase, the varsity will offer MA in applied economics and MA in development, along with postgraduate diplomas in local development, early childhood education and educational assessment, and several short-term certificate courses in public health, education and development. Notably, CM Hemant Soren laid the foundation for Azim Premji Foundation’s medical college and hospital in Ranchi’s Itki area in January 2024 after the govt leased around 146 acres of area to the foundation for 99 years. The foundation’s officials said in the first phase, the university would admit around 240 students and function in close coordination with the state govt.
