Banganapalle police stop couple from ending life

Banganapalle police prevented a couple from ending their life by jumping into the Srisailam Right Bank Canal (SRBC).

According to a press release issued on Monday, Banganapalle Circle inspector (CI) Praveen Kumar received a phone call around 5 p.m. on Sunday from a person named Chinna Maddieti of Ramapuram village in Owk mandal. The caller told the CI that he had received a call from his brother’s wife Shashikala that she and her husband Maddileti were in Banganapalle and they were going to end their life due to pressure to repay debts.

Mr. Praveen Kumar passed on the information to higher-up’s and traced the location of the couple through mobile phone signals. The CI asked Sub-Inspector Duggi Reddy and other personnel to go to Ravvalakonda area near SRBC, where they found the couple on the bridge and stopped them from taking the extreme step.

The couple were brought to the police station, counselled in the presence of their relatives and sent to their village.
