Barmer tragedy: 2 cousin brothers burnt alive, one injured in Rajasthan

JAISALMER: In a heart-wrenching incident on Sunday early morning in Jastaniyon ki Dhani Bhadkha in the Sadar police station area of Barmer district, two cousin brothers were burnt alive while sleeping when a fire broke out in a residential dhani.

Another brother suffered burn injuries. After primary treatment, he was referred to Jodhpur. Upon receiving information about the incident, police and district administration officials reached the spot. Cairn's fire brigade arrived and controlled the fire. But by then, a young man and a child were burnt alive. One person was injured.Bhadkha Sarpanch said that on Sunday around 5 AM, a fire suddenly broke out in a room in Jastaniyon ki Dhani Bhadkha in Barmer district.

Within a short time, the fire spread. Seeing the flames, family members and villagers came running. Police and administration were informed.Devilal, a resident of Jastaniyon ki Dhani, went to his brother's house at night. At night, his son Jasram and cousins Arun (19), son of Shankararam, and Rajuram (12), son of Purkharam, were all sleeping in a room built in the house. On Sunday around 5 AM, a fire suddenly broke out. Within a short time, the fire spread.

Seeing the flames, his family members and villagers came running. Police and administration were informed. Upon receiving information, Cairn company's fire brigade reached the spot. Attempts were made to extinguish the fire.

By then, it was too late. Arun and Rajuram were burnt alive. Jasraj was severely burnt. After controlling the fire, Jasu was taken out and brought to Barmer Hospital. After primary treatment there, he was referred to Jodhpur due to his serious condition. Devilal's wife passed away a few years ago. Arun, among the deceased, worked in a plastic cup manufacturing factory in Mumbai. He came to the village for Diwali. Rajuram was studying in 7th class.Rural Station Officer Rajuram Bamania said that a fire broke out in a brick room built in the house, in which two cousin brothers sleeping were burnt alive. One cousin brother was referred to Jodhpur. Preliminarily, a fire due to a short circuit is emerging. The FSL team is collecting evidence at the spot. Only after their report will it be revealed. Barmer ASP Jasaram Bose, DSP Ramesh Kumar Sharma, Tehsildar, RI, and Patwari are at the spot.
