The State government has rolled out the “Yuva Nidhi Plus” scheme with the objective of providing skill training and employment opportunities to those registered under the Yuva Nidhi scheme.

However, beneficiaries are showing indifference towards the initiative, observed Chikkalingaiah, Chairman of the District-Level Guarantee Schemes Implementation Authority, who urged youth to make full use of the opportunity.

Presiding over a meeting of the District-Level Guarantee Schemes Implementation Committee at the Mandya Zilla Panchayat, he said the training modules are tailored to the interests of the beneficiaries and warned the youth not to fall prey to misconceptions about the scheme.

He further noted that the Anna Bhagya scheme has been a lifeline for poor families but cautioned that selling the rice supplied by the government is illegal, with some cases of misuse already detected.

Sharing data on other guarantee schemes, Mr. Chikkalingaiah said that under the Gruha Lakshmi scheme, ₹77.44 crore was credited to 3,87,172 beneficiaries in June alone. Between April 2024 and June 2025, ₹1,154 crore has been disbursed.

The Shakti scheme enabled 2.01 crore women to avail themselves of free bus travel from May to July 2025, costing the government ₹61.88 crore. Bus time was revised on the Duddu–Muttigere route to ease difficulties faced by students, he added.

Under the Gruha Jyothi scheme, beneficiaries consumed 8.22 crore units of free electricity between April and July 2025, amounting to ₹79.08 crore, he informed.
