Bengaluru East Corporation Commissioner D.S. Ramesh conducted inspections of paying guest (PG) accommodations under the Mahadevapura Zone on Friday. During the inspection, he directed officials to strictly verify whether PGs were functioning in compliance with the prescribed standard operating procedures, instructing them to take action as per the rules in cases where violations or lapses were found.
Mr. Ramesh and Additional Commissioner (Development) Lokhande Snehal Sudhakar held a joint meeting with officials from the Engineering Department, BMTC, and the city traffic police on easing traffic congestion. The meeting focused on examining various measures to improve traffic flow and pedestrian safety in the East zone.
Officials were asked to review the proposed relocation of 21 bus shelters situated near major junctions to help reduce congestion.
The meeting discussed a proposal to construct 17 new skywalks at high-traffic roads and junctions, including T.C. Palya, Outer Ring Road, Old Madras Road, areas near Phoenix Mall, Carmelaram, and Doddakannalli, to improve pedestrian safety.
Officers were instructed to examine the feasibility of implementing a bus bay system on major roads such as Kasturi Nagar, Devasandra, ITPL Main Road and Bellandur–Kasavanahalli Road.
