Bengaluru law enforcement has initiated a case against an Instagram account for distributing a misleading
BENGALURU: Police in Bengaluru have registered an FIR against an Instagram user for creating and sharing a fake AI-generated video that shows Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar pushing Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. The complaint was filed by advocate Deepu C R on Friday after discovering the video on an Instagram account called 'Kannada Chitraranga'.The fake video was designed to mimic a news channel broadcast and was circulated as breaking news on social media platforms. It was allegedly created using artificial intelligence tools to show a fabricated incident between the two political leaders.The complainant noted that the video was shared with captions like "Shivakumar pushed CM Siddaramaiah and the latter fell," "Happened during the meeting," and "Enraged DKS pushed CM."
According to the FIR, the complainant alleged that the video was created and distributed with the intent to damage the reputation of both the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister, aiming to create a negative perception among the public. The complaint also stated that such content could potentially cause social unrest and harm the state government's reputation.The Sadashivanagar Police have filed charges under Sections 192, 336(4), and 353 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. These sections deal with provocation to cause riot, forgery, and statements leading to public mischief, respectively.Police officials have confirmed that further investigation into the matter is currently underway.
