A young woman from Tamil Nadu’s Tiruppur district, Kamatchi (27), was among those who lost their lives in the stampede outside the M.A. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Wednesday (June 4, 2025). Her body is being brought to her home town in Udumalpet.

Kamatchi, an IT employee who was working at a software firm in Bengaluru, had gone to watch the Royal Challengers Bengaluru team’s maiden Indian Premium League (IPL) championship victory celebrations, when the stampede occurred. She is the daughter of S. Moorthy and S. Rajalakshmi, the correspondent of Vivekanda Vidyalaya Matriculation School near Myvadi near Udumalpet.

Her parents and relatives have rushed to Bengaluru to bring her body back.
