Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi on Thursday took aim at Pakistan’s negative propaganda following Operation Sindoor, saying the Indian Army’s positive narrative had shredded Islamabad’s lies.

“We counter Pakistan’s negative propaganda after Operation Sindoor with our positive propaganda, and our propaganda is the propaganda of truth,” General Dwivedi said in Jaipur, where he was attending the 78th Army Day event.

After showcasing the Indian Army’s military strength during the Army Day event, General Dwivedi also said that “Operation Sindoor has established a new normal.”

Describing the past decade as a “decade of transformation,” General Dwivedi added, “We are preparing not only for the present but also for future wars. If we want to win long battles, we must focus on indigenous weapons.”

“We also need to see what we have learned from the Ukraine–Russia war. We have learned that no one can predict the length of a war, whether it is the Ukraine-Russia conflict or Operation Sindoor. We have also learned that smaller regiments are more advantageous,” the Army Chief said.

On Tuesday, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi revealed that the armed forces were fully prepared to launch ground operations if Pakistan had attempted any misadventure during Operation Sindoor. He underlined that India had significantly expanded the scope for conventional military action in Pakistan.

Addressing a press conference, General Dwivedi said, "In those 88 hours, you saw that the Army's mobilisation to expand the conventional space was such that if Pakistan made any mistake, we were fully prepared to launch ground operations."

The Army Chief noted that earlier assessments suggested that the space for conventional operations was shrinking, with conflicts potentially escalating rapidly from sub-conventional to the nuclear domain. However, he said India’s response during Operation Sindoor demonstrated a different reality on the ground.
