Bicholim electricity bldg demolished; ₹10cr project planned

Bicholim: The old Bicholim electricity department building, which was on the verge of collapse, has been demolished. A new building costing around Rs 10 crore will be constructed, with the foundation stone ceremony to be held soon.Power minister Ramkrishna Sudin Dhavalikar, during his visit to Bicholim in April, inspected the condition of the building, which was in a dilapidated state and overgrown with bushes. He said that the building was beyond repair. The officials informed Dhavalikar that the building had been closed for several years.The building was earlier used by department employees for residential purposes. Over time, the building showed signs of weakness and was abandoned. Later, the department decided to replace it with a new one.
