Independent MP from Purnea, Pappu Yadav, on Friday (October 31, 2025) condemned the recent violence in Mokama that claimed the life of a Jan Suraaj supporter, Dularchand Yadav, alleging that political candidates are being increasingly targeted during the ongoing Bihar election campaign and accusing the BJP and its allies of promoting criminal elements in politics.

The Election Commission sought a report from the Bihar director general of police on the murder of a Jan Suraaj Party supporter in Mokama, which led to a flare-up in the area, officials said.

Meanwhile, taking a swipe at the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) over its manifesto launch, the Congress claimed that the ruling coalition had wrapped up its press conference in “just 26 seconds”.

    Tej Pratap slams State govt over Mokama murder

    Reacting to the recent Jan Suraaj supporter murder case in Mokama, political leaders in Bihar expressed sharp criticism and concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in the State.

    Janshakti Janata Dal (JJD) chief Tej Pratap Yadav blames the State government for “failing to ensure safety.”

    Speaking to reporters in Danapur, Tej Pratap Yadav says, “The present (State) government is asleep and the gathering here is to change the same government. Crime will spread till there is unemployment and if there is employment, people will stay busy. The government should have taken cognisance of this.”

    RJD leader writes to EC, says Bihar govt violated MCC by transferring money to women ahead of poll

    RJD MP Manoj Jha writes to the Election Commission (EC), accusing the Bihar government of violating the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) by transferring money to women under the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana on October 17, 24 and 31.

    Mr. Jha also said the next proposed date for disbursement is November 7 -- four days before the second phase of polling in Bihar.

    “I am writing to lodge a formal and strong protest against the brazen violation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) by the government of Bihar through the direct cash transfer of Rs 10,000 to beneficiaries on 17, 24 and 31 October, 2025 under the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana,” Mr. Jha says in his letter to the ECI.
