Biotechnology sector and its growth continues to be a strategic priority for the Telangana government, a senior official said here on Monday.
Underscoring importance of the sector, the work and significance of promoting its growth, Special Chief Secretary for Special Projects and Investment Cell in the Chief Minister’s Office Jayesh Ranjan said biotechnology played a key role in advancing healthcare. Over time, it has taken firm roots in the State, he said.
Speaking at the inauguration of TechX Startup Innovation Showcase, organised as part of the International Knowledge Millennium Conference (IKMC 2025), the senior official also stressed on promoting research in a big way in the country. Science park and incubator IKP Knowledge Park, which is behind IKMC, has been at the forefront of advancing the sector for over 25 years, he said.
The showcase reflects IKP’s commitment to empower startups with funding, visibility and collaboration opportunities thus enabling them to scale innovations that can create global impact, he said.
In a release, IKP said IKMC 2025 is 19th edition in annual series. The showcase is featuring 150 innovators and start-ups demonstrating breakthrough technologies and market-ready solutions. IKP also announced investments — up to ₹1 crore in Progen Foods through IKP Future Forward Fund and ₹5 lakh grant each under IKP Future Stars Awards to five startups — Subtlebotic; Vasudeva Innovations, Algaevity, Evoxia Labs India and GVA Health Tech.
