BJP activists march to Sivankutty’s office at Nemom

A march led by BJP activists to the office of the General Education Minister, V. Sivankutty, at Nemom, protesting against his comments in the Bharat Mata row and a countermarch by CPI(M) activists pledging support for the Minister created tense moments for the police on Saturday evening

BJP activists set up the controversial picture of Bharat Mata with the saffron flag in front of Mr. Sivankutty’s office and offered floral tributes. They also tried to force their way into the office, and though a scuffle ensued between BJP activists and the police, tension was diffused.

Soon after, CPI(M) activists marched to the Minister’s Nemom office waving flex boards with Mr.Sivankutty’s picture and shouting slogans in praise of the Minister and pledging support to him.
