The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has demanded repolling in Ward 9 of Payyannur municipality, alleging that CPI(M) workers had captured the booth at Kanayi North and disrupted polling.
A complaint in this regard was filed by Minority Morcha Kannur North district president Pinto Fredrick.
The petition was submitted to the Kannur District Returning Officer, State Election Commissioner, District Collector, and the Superintendent of Police, Kannur Rural.
According to the complaint, CPI(M) workers forcibly took control of the booth around 3.30 p.m., ousting the booth agents of the BJP and the Congress after threatening them. BJP candidate A. Jayanthi, who attempted to enter the booth, was also reportedly threatened and sent back.
The BJP further accused the CPI(M) of facilitating bogus voting in Kankol-Alappadamba grama panchayat and enabling some people to cast multiple votes at Azhikode Neerkadavu, Azhikode LP School (North section), and Azhikode Fisheries. A separate complaint was submitted to the Election Commission on the incidents.
